LONG RANGE PLANNING COMMITTEE
The Long Range Planning Committee has overall responsibility for the annual review, revision, and extension of the congregation's long range plan. As a standing committee, it is charged each year with identifying major directions of the church for the ensuing five years, and organizing a plan of concrete steps that can be taken toward those goals, based on input from the congregation and church committees. Specific responsibilities include the following:
- Monitor and evaluate the accomplishment of objectives and progress toward goals from the previous year.
- Determine how to engage the committee and others in the planning process.
- Formulate crucial questions to ask, determine facts to be considered, identify relevant data and information to be collected.
- Develop appropriate long range responses to the current UUA Study/Action Issue. Incorporate these responses in shaping final recommendations.
- When appropriate, seek congregational feedback on critical issues through surveys or task force reports. Incorporate these responses in shaping final recommendations.
- Develop a list of up to six major goals for the coming five years.
- Devise an action plan of objectives, which can be undertaken to implement the goals. These should be major and general over the five year span, but should be specific and detailed for the next year.
- Following the "LRPC Plan Implementation," work with the Board of Directors to assure the implementation of approved objectives. This should be done either by the board liaisons working with appropriate church committees, or directly by the Board.
- Maintain informal communication with committees and individuals in leadership roles throughout the year regarding implementation of the current action plan.
The Long Range Plan is presented to the Board of Directors in the spring of each year, and is reported to the congregation at the Annual Meeting.
