The Long Range Planning Committee and the chair of the Facilities Management Committee have discussed the accessibility of our church concerning parking for members and friends with disabilities to attend Sunday services.
Currently there is a space about half a block from the church entrance in front of the courthouse as well as apron parking available to the south of the church. We have inquired about establishing additional handicapped street parking with the City of Fargo, and approval would most likely be granted; however, this would impact the parking options for area residents. We also discussed an additional spot on our property to the south of the church (see attached diagram).
A list of pros and cons regarding these options is presented below. It should be noted that all options are good ones, including keeping the status quo. Another approach could be to make a decision on a plan contingent on hitting a membership target (e.g. 125 members) or on implementing the plan as soon as an actual need arose. In any case, having an acceptable, agreed upon plan now would be useful, even if it were not implemented until a later time.
