Communications from the Board of Directors
Board Approved February 12, 2006
Because of concerns, which have arisen about Board of Directors communications – with each other, with the Church office, and with the congregation – the following policies were adopted in November 2005.
- Include regular announcements in Sunday bulletins and the Newsletter. This will be used, for example, to publish highlights from the last Board minutes, as well as to remind church members that complete minutes are posted for review, and Board meetings are open for members who wish to attend.
- Hold Board meetings twice a month on the 2nd Sunday and 4th Saturday from 9:00 to 10:30 a.m. The Board began meeting twice a month in January 2006.
- Develop, post and periodically revise an annual calendar of church affairs. This will include Board meetings, committee meetings, the Stewardship Campaign, budget deadlines, church potlucks, annual professional meetings (PSD, UUA), and any other events with firm annual dates, which are of general interest to the entire congregation. The President will work with committee chairs to develop and maintain the list of topics to be included, and with the Office Manager to assure regular production of the calendar.
- Hold regular Leadership Council meetings, at least quarterly.
- Work with the Office Manager to identify and organize email messages initiated from the Church office, especially to the President, which require action or subsequent policy consideration by the Board.
