FMUU Website Policy and Guidelines

PURPOSE OF THE WEBSITE

The FMUU church recognizes the importance of maintaining a high quality website and discussion board. The Board of Directors and the Webmaster are charged with not only maintaining this high quality, but also with communicating information regarding the Website/Discussion Boards to FMUU members and friends, to encourage their participation.

OVERALL RESPONSIBILITY

The FMUU Board of Directors is responsible for reviewing and approving the architecture of the FMUU Website and permission structure of the Discussion Board. The Board of Directors carries the overall responsibility and liability for the FMUU Website and acts as the direct supervisor of the FMUU Webmaster. The Board directs the Webmaster to use all discretion in protecting the privacy of the individual and the sanctity of the church's reputation with regard to materials and discussions on its website.

MAINTENANCE OF THE WEBSITE

Ongoing maintenance of the website (including discussion board) will be the purview of the FMUU WEBMASTER, whose responsibilities will include:

STRUCTURE OF THE WEBSITE

The overall structure of the website is straightforward, with initial Splash/Index pages leading to the following sections: About Us (Principles & Purposes, By-Laws, 5-Year Plan), News (various, updated periodically), Contact (contact information for staff, board and committees -- all information is optional and any individual who does not wish their information to be posted will be defaulted to "FMUU Office"), Links (external links to UU sites and other related organizations), Programs (current month, Adult RE, and archive of old programs) and Discussion Board (see below).

SUBMISSIONS TO THE WEBSITE

Material submissions for the website can be made to the Webmaster or the FMUU Office Manager. Further areas/pages within the website can be added to the main areas at the request of FMUU board members, committee chairs, staff and members, and will be added at the judgment and discretion of the FMUU Webmaster.

DISCUSSION BOARD

The FMUU Webmaster serves as Site Administrator of the Discussion Board.

Material posted to the Discussion Board and to the Website must adhere to or be within the spirit of Unitarian Universalist principles. Requests for discussion board Sections, Forums, or Topics that fall outside of the established permissions may be made to the Webmaster, who will use his/her judgment to determine the appropriate placement of the requested posting.

Submission of Sunday programs by speakers for posting on the Discussion Board is encouraged but considered voluntary. The Program Coordinator will let speakers know of the opportunity but has no further responsibility for submissions or postings. Committee involvement, including submission of records and materials is encouraged, but is also considered voluntary.

ONLINE PRIVACY

Individual and institutional privacy will be protected unless permissions are expressly given to post phone numbers, addresses, committee rosters, meeting minutes, etc.

Any person's (children and/or adults) names and/or recognizable pictures will not be published on the site without a signed and dated parental consent form.

WEBMASTER JOB DESCRIPTION

The Webmaster is a volunteer position, reporting to the Board of Directors.
