Phil Mouch: "All You Need Is Love"

It's almost Valentine's Day, a day for sending chocolate and roses and padding Hallmark's bottom line. But amidst all of the silliness, there is this, ah... crazy little thing called love that the day is supposed to celebrate. What is it? And why do we want it so much? After all, Eros is the reason for the season.

Love may be blind, but the rest of us are not fooled.

Laurie Baker: "Dwelling Within Our Spiritual Differences"

This program was written by Rev. Barbara Kellett, based on the book Discover Your Spiritual Type by Corinne Ware and adapted for congregations. A congregation is a container for all kinds of differences: age, abilities, length of membership, economic income, in life experiences, wants, needs and aspirations. Given those differences, how do we do church as individuals and in community? Is there a way to define our different tendencies that might be helfpul and constructive? Kellett says yes and offers a useful model for understanding and navigating differences within congregations.

Rev. Kellett is the founder of the Stonetree Spiritual Resources website for the Prairie Star District, a deeply respected UU minister, and owner of Starcell Spiritual Resources. Laurie Baker is the Program Coordinator for the FMUU church.

Both what you run from — and what you yearn for — are within you.

Joseph Kennedy: "Where & When Power Lies"

We covenant to affirm and promote... the use of the democratic process... a personal search for truth and meaning. Joe Kennedy will examine how promoting the use of democratic process at a local level directly encourages everyone's ability to find truth and meaning. He will also lead us in a deeper understanding of the administrative functions of political bodies and where "real power" lies.
