March 7

"The Third Place: A Celebration of Community and Commitment"

In his book The Great Good Place, Ray Oldenburg describes "the third place" as a social anchor after home and workplace, a place where people gather together for good company and lively conversation. While Oldenburg explored bars, bistros and coffeehouses and descried their diminishing roles as America suburbanized, perhaps we can envision an alternative Third Place in the form of our own little church. Join Cindy Palmer and other members of the Stewardship Committee as we celebrate the uniqueness, vitality and future of our Third Place on Stewardship Sunday.

March 14

Prairie Rose "Native Spirituality and Its Inherent Social Justice"

Join speaker Prairie Rose and musician Al Demaray as they share with us some of the rich tradition, music and ritual of Native American spirituality. Rooted deep in the earth and in relationship, this perspective emphasizes the balance of all life and the responsibility of each to all. *Please note: Sage will be burned as a part of the ritual.

As a special treat, Laurie Seifert and Nadine Fiddler will provide a traditional Native American fry bread as part of our refreshments following the service.

March 21

Shwanthea Monroe-Mueller "Holy Ground"

Using a passage from the Old Testament book of Joshua, (5:15) "Remove the sandals from your feet for you are standing on Holy Ground," Shawnthea will explore and discuss the idea of the Holy. Have we lost a sense of the Holy? How might we recover or rediscover it? When nothing is sacred, we pay a high price.

March 28

"Homegrown Humor"

Please join us for our annual celebration of UU Humor in stories, jokes and song. At least part of this service will be intergenerational and appropriate for all ages. Participation is encouraged, so let the Program Committee know how you would like to be involved!
