Rev. Arthur Foote said, "The problem of personal religion is always to find a hub into which all the various spokes of our lives may fit." A little poetry, some thoughts about wheels and spokes and changes in our lives. Betty Mills is a longtime friend of the Fargo-Moorhead UU, and visits us again from the Bismarck-Mandan UU Fellowship, where she is a charter member. For the last 17 years, Betty has written a weekly political column for the Bismarck Tribune.
Our second annual Poetry and Music Sunday program will feature poet Thom Tammaro of MSUM, an award-winning poet, editor and essayist and the author of several publications including When the Italians Came to My Hometown, a collection of poems. The music will be provided by Tom Christianson, principal percussionist of the Fargo-Moorhead Symphony, who will perform several pieces on his 1940s vintage marimba. There will be religious education classes today, as well as childcare provided in the nursery.
In these times, it's becoming increasingly important to go within for healing. But how do we do that? Reiki Master Susan Ekberg combines traditional Reiki healing with intuitive vision; to facilitate healing from the outside in conjunction with helping people initiate healing from the inside through self-awareness. She will talk about the work that she does, and give a hands-on example of this new type of healing.
This is the last formal Sunday Service until September 2002.
Good Food, Good Coffee and Conversation too! We will head outdoors to prepare our lawn and flower beds. Childcare will be provided. You can sign up for the potluck during Coffee Hours in the church. In addition to bringing a dish to share, please bring your bedding plants (handouts from Ron Smith, list found on the Church bulletin board in the community room), and gardening tools. Roto-tillers are wanted, as well as hoes, etc.
