Kathleen Slobin's presentation will explore common cultural and interpersonal narratives of victimization, violence, and despair as they offer pathways toward possibilities for rekindling our moral imagination and hope. Kathleen will use her sociological understandings of society and social interaction to envision grounds for a socially engaged spirituality.
"You can't go home again." Why not? What is 'home'? Any seeker of truth leaves home to find it. The Buddha had to leave his father's palace to find enlightenment. Abraham had to leave the land of his birth for his new covenant with God. Jesus had to go out into the world to share his message. We have to leave the safety and security of our places of birth to grow and learn. But what does this tell us about home? Or the journey that leads us away, and perhaps back?
Join singer/songwriter and fellow UUFM member Joseph DeMasi as he once again brings us his own "unique" take on the world through his music and song. Be prepared to laugh, be prepared to cry and be prepared to close out our fellowship season in style and in song! If you were present on September 10, you know this is a program you don't want to miss.
The Annual Meeting will be held after the church service on May 20. At this time the Nominating Committee has reported the following people will be nominated for positions on the board. We still need nominations for the three-year Board Secretary opening.
A pizza lunch will be served at the Annual Meeting, as well. Please bring a check or exact change.
