Dan Goehring: "Intellectual and spiritual approaches to being Unitarian / What are the limits to our openness?"

In dealing with the philosophical and theological assumptions that we make intellectually as individuals and the yearnings (emotions) that drive our reactions, what are our personal limits as individuals, as Unitarians, as products of our culture, and as members of the human species? Is the assumption of free choice as an absolute ideal in "reality" limited and/or limiting?

SEPTEMBER 22

Members of the Long Range Planning Committee: "Rally Sunday"

Mark your calendars now for the first annual Rally Sunday! No, it's not the Sturgis motorcycle rally, but the FMUU rally event, brought to you by the members of the Long Range Planning Committee to rally together our church community to kick off the church year. Get out your hard hats and hammers to help us rally support for the church building campaign. There will be a special presentation from the building committee as well as re-introductions of the church board and committee chairs, for those of you who have forgotten who all those important people are! This event is not to be missed, so be there, or be a T-square!

SEPTEMBER 29

Rev. Stefan Jonasson: "In Deeper Reverence"

Philosopher Paul Woodruff calls reverence "the forgotten virtue," suggesting that it "survives among us in half forgotten patterns of civility, in moments of inarticulate awe, and in nostalgia for the lost ways of traditional cultures." Springing from a sense of awe and humility, reverence points us towards the deeper understanding of both our human limitations and our considerable potential.

Rev. Stefan Jonasson is a long-time friend of the UU Church of Fargo-Moorhead. Based in Winnipeg, Stefan is the UUA's Coordinator of Services for Large Congregations. He was formerly the UUA District Executive for Western Canada, served as an extension consultant for Prairie Star District, and has served as minister of two congregations in rural Manitoba.

Water Communion every Sunday in September during Joys and Concerns.

Sunday services are followed by coffee and conversation.
